Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator III
The position being offered is for a full-time Grade III Certified Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator. At the time of hire, the employee must live within 30 minutes travel time of Cayucos for emergency response and standby duty. The normal operating hours for this position are Tuesday - Saturday, 8:00am - 4:30pm.
Working under the general supervision and direction of the Chief Plant Operator, the employee will perform a variety of semi-skilled and skilled work tasks in the operation and maintenance of a Wastewater Treatment Plant facility and laboratory, and perform related work, as required.
Job Description & Minimum Requirements
The qualified candidate must, at minimum, hold a Grade III Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Certification issued by the SWRCB. Additional desirable qualifications are completely delineated in the job description below.
Compensation & Benefits
The compensation range for this PERS-eligible positions is $37.20 to $47.47 per hour ($77,376.00 to $98,737.60 annually) depending on the level of experience and the step at which one is hired. Note: Any advanced salary placement beyond the minimum step of the range will be based on the applicant-candidate’s qualifications and experience in light of the minimum qualification requirements established for the position.
The District offers a competitive benefits package which includes PERS retirement and employer-paid premiums for health, dental and vision.
- PERS Retirement – 2% at 62 for eligible PEPRA employees; 2.5% at 55 for pre-PEPRA members.
- Healthcare – The District contributes 100% of premiums for the employee and one dependent for medical, dental and vision coverages.
- Leave benefits (subject to District policy) include 10 paid holidays, 10 vacation days (increasing with longevity), 2 personal days, and 12 sick days annually.
